Study Plan

I. Study Period:

The regular duration of study is 2 years. The maximum duration of study for full-time students is 3 years. The maximum duration of study for part-time non-Mainland Chinese students is 4 years. The study is divided into the following two parts: 18 months of course study and no less than 6 months of thesis writing.

II. Degreerequirements:

  1. Students should complete at least 44 credits, which are distributed as follows:
  2. Student should complete the 6 core courses in Table 1 to earn 18 credits.
  3. Students should complete 3 major courses in Table 2, including 2 required courses from your major and 1 course from the other two majors, to earn 9 credits.
  4. Students should complete the academic year research paper to earn 4 credits (as shown in Table 4).
  5. Students should complete the thesis and pass the oral defense to earn 12 credits (as shown in Table 3). The required length of thesis is no less than 20,000 words (in Chinese).
  6. Student should attend at least 10 academic activities, including academic speeches, lectures, conferences, etc, to earn 1 credit (as shown in Table 4).
  7. Students who complete all the courses regulated by the study plan and pass the thesis oral defense will be awarded the degree of Master of Design.
  8. If a student passes all the courses but fails to pass the oral defense during the specified period, s/he only can apply for an enrollment certificate.

VI. Requirements for Graduation

Upon approval from the Senate of the University, a Master/Doctoral Degree will be conferred on a student when he or she has:

1. completed and met the requirements prescribed in the study plan of his or her program within the specific study period*

2. abided by the regulations of the University

3. cleared all fees and charges and returned all University property and equipment borrowed

* Students admitted from the academic year 2017/2018 onwards are required to achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above (excluding thesis/dissertation) in order to graduate.

VII.Remarks:

  1. The study plan and curriculum is based on the formal announcement of the Boletim Oficial da Região Administrativa Especial de Macau.
  2. Please note that if there is insufficient enrollment in a major, the university has the right to cancel the major.
  3. The arrangement of major and elective courses is subject to change based on demand and availability.
