The inauguration of Legal Practice and Education Center of the Faculty of Law combined with the 2ndShizi Gate Law Forum in Academic Year 2016-2017, which werehosted by the faculty of law, and supported by Macau Foundation and M.U.S.T. Foundation, were successfully held in library building N101 on 29 November 2016. Prof. Pang Chuan, the Vice President of University, Prof. Zeng Huaqun, Dean of Faculty of Law, Prof. Fang Quan, Executive Vice Dean of Faculty of Law, Associate professor Yi Zaicheng,Program Director of Faculty of Law, and many judges and lawyers who came from cross-strait region attended this event. The Faculty was also honored to invite the famous civil law expert Professor Liang Huixing as the ceremony guest and forum commentator. During the period, University Vice President Prof. Pang and Dean of FL Prof. Zeng inaugurated the Center.

University Vice President Pang said that law as the application of the social sciences, whether professional teaching or academic research requires a combination of theory and practice. The establishment of legal practice teaching platforms through various forms is a common practice in today's law schools around the world. Its significance lies in strengthening the organic integration of students' professional theoretical study and legal practice operation, promoting the development of legal education in the cross-strait region, deepening interdisciplinary and innovative scientific research, and broadening the teaching and research cooperation between the region and the world.

Prof. Fang Quan, Director of the Center and Executive Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, said in her speech that it is important to develop students' ability to apply law through practical teaching outside of classroom. Under the support of the University, the Center has signed cooperation agreements with a number of law firms and judicial authorities. It will carry out cooperation projects such as case teaching, student internship, employment, project research and academic activities. Many senior members of these institutions will be invited to serve as centers’ Senior Consultant and Senior Instructor.

Many cooperation agreements have been signed between the Center and a number of well-known law firms. Deheng (Zhuhai) Law Firm, Global Law Office (Shanghai), JINCHENG TONGDA & NEAL (Shanghai), Ho,Shen & Chao International Law Firm (Taiwan), Guangdong Zhongda Lawyer Office attented the opening ceremony. In his speech, Mr.Cui Feng, Senior Consultant of the Center expressed his support and congratulations. He emphasized the importance of practice in legal education and affirmed the significance of the establishment of Legal Practice and Education Center.

As a platform for practical teaching, research and provision of social services, the Center will focus on developing students' legal practice skills, promoting the development of legal education and to play its due role in the construction of society with rule of law.
After the ceremony, Shizi Gate Legal Forum begins. The theme of this forum is Theory and Practice of Dispute Resolution of Cross-domain Private Law in the Background of Judicial Reform. Beijing Deheng (Zhuhai) Law Firm Director Cui Feng, The people’s court of Hengqin New Area of Zhuhai, Review Management Office Director and Judicial Reform Office Director Li Lei Ming, and Guangdong Zhongda Law Firm Director Cai Chong became the spokesman. The forum was chaired by Prof. Liang Huixing, a well-known civil law expert in China. The three speakers reported on the experience of the judicial reform of Hengqin Court, the expansion of cross-domain private dispute settlement and the problems and suggestions in cross-domain private law dispute settlement. Prof. Liang gave a very good comment on the report of the three speakers and put forward the importance of cultivating foreign-related legal talents. He also expressed his expectations for the development of the Faculty of Law and Legal Practice and Education Center.
