Introduction
The Graduate Studies Office (GSO) is an administrative department under the Academic Division, and also the department for executing the daily routines of the University’s Graduate Committee. It is responsible for coordinating postgraduate students’ admission, registration, management of student status, as well as supervising the teaching of the postgraduate programs. The scope of services is as follows:
Admission
1. Handling admission applications
2. Arranging admission examinations
3. Administering offers to prospective postgraduate students
4. Handling Scholarships/Grants
Registration & Management of Student Status
1. Coordinating the registration affairs for postgraduate students
2. Managing records of registration and student status
3. Handling deferral and withdrawal of studies, termination of student status,
reinstatement of studies, etc.
4. Reckoning students’ grades, issuing academic records and transcripts, etc.
5. Handling and verifying academic certifications
6. Verifying the fulfillment of graduation requirements for potential graduates
7. Issuing the Graduation Certificates
8. Managing the files of graduates
9. Assisting the arrangement of congregations
10. Completing statistics and other required data related to postgraduate
students
11. Arranging and coordinating the publication of Student Handbook
Supervision of Teaching
1. Verifying the qualification of teachers
2. Monitoring and managing the overall quality of teaching
Routine work of Graduate Committee
1. Research and reform on teaching
2. Development and planning of postgraduate programs
3. Recruitment planning and setting the admission criteria
4. Revising student regulations
Implementing other tasks in accordance with the needs and requirements of the Academic Division and the University
