Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Tam Chon Weng Affirmed MUST’s Educational Achievement

On the morning of November 21st, 2015, MUST President Liu Liang, Senior Vice President Zhang Shuguang, Vice President Chen Xi and Tong Ka Lok, Associate Vice President Jiang Zhihong and Sun Jianrong, Administrative Officer Denys,Kwong Ying Wa paid a visit to Mr. Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture. The visit was also received by Chief of Office Lai Ieng Kit and Consultant Heidi Ho.

In the meeting, President Liu Liang expressed his gratitude to Macau SAR Government and Secretary Mr. Tam for their continuous support and guidance to the construction and development of MUST, which was followed by a brief introduction to the university’s recent development, including the establishment of academic management structure and system which accommodates the higher education development, the building of system of talent fostering and academic research which accommodates the diversified and sustainable economic development in Macau, the fostering of a team of first-class teachers and researchers, and so on. President Liu indicated the university’s determination to follow its educational motto, to incorporate teaching and research, to draw on the two key elements: “quality” and “innovation”, to bring in academic leaders and excellent young scholars, to boost the development of quality education and outstanding research, to improve the ability of serving the society and to make the school more international.

MUST’s achievement in education, its practice of the policy that teaching and research are equally important, and its contribution to the development of the society in Macau was affirmed by Secretary Mr. Tam. He said that he would continue to support the development of higher education in Macau, hoping that there would be more professional talents to serve Macau for its social and economic development.
