Professor Daokui Li presented a detained analysis of the problems and trends of the development of Chinese economy. He held that Chinese economy has greater and faster growth potentials mainly because profound changes have taken place in the structure of Chinese economy, particularly, in consumption structure; the proportion of consumption expenditure by the residents in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has remarkably increased; currently the decline in growth of Chinese economy clearly attributes to some periodical factors, the change of which is of a short term nature; in the long run, the Chinese economy will still be able to maintain a relatively high growth rate of no lower than 7%. At this stage, reforms should speed up in key areas, new sources for economic growth must be stimulated: physicalization of the “One Belt And One Road” strategy should be accelerated, electronic commerce and Internet+ should be advanced, operational efficiency of capital market should be improved, and market access by nongovernmental capital should be perfected, transform of economy should be accelerated, and continuous high-rate growth of Chinese economy should be maintained. Professor Li cited economic theories and a large quantity of economic data in his presentation and argumentation of the above-mentioned ideas; his thesis was rigorous and was supported with sufficient authentic information, and therefore has stimulated heated discussions of important issues of development of Chinese economy among the audience.

During his visit, Professor Li has met with President Liu Liang of MUST and was warmly welcomed by the President, who expressed wishes that Professor Li would continue to provide support and assistance for the University’s development.
