Eighteen Donor Institutions Presented Scholarship and Grant Awards to MUST Students

On November 12, 2015, Macau University of Science and Technology held a ceremony for Presentation of Scholarship and Grant Awards at N101 of the library building. At the ceremony, 24 scholarship and grant awards were given out to 184 excellent students.

At the ceremony, President Liu Liang encouraged the scholarship winners to abide by the University’s motto, “dedication to practical studies, and enhancement of knowledge, ability and quality” in cultivating their attitude of pursuing studies, career, and character-building; he reminded the students that in addition to diligent studies, they should discipline themselves and shape their mind with humanistic characters, and noble morality and values, take universal humanistic qualities such as gratitude, acceptance, humility, integrity, and rationality as lifetime virtues, pursue a life that resides in ultimate kindness, integrate personal aspirations into the development of human society, and make contributions to the society and the nation.

Stephanie Che, one of the winning students, gave a speech on behalf all the winners, in which she thanked the donors of the scholarships and grants for their support and generosity, and thanked the university teachers for their guidance; she promised to adopt in her study, the attitude of “all big dreams start from a first step” and the spirit of “self-discipline and self-improvement” in cultivating her character and morality, aim at all-round development, and become a member of the new vigorous generation that owns “not only talent but also virtue”.

At the end of the Ceremony, in order to show the University’s gratitude toward their support, President Liu Liang presented a Thank-you Certificate to those institutions, which donated scholarships to MUST for the first time. After the Ceremony, guests and the scholarship winners took group photos and attended a cocktail party held at the Seasons to celebrate the happy occasion.   

The Award Presentation Ceremony is held mainly for representatives of the donors to confer the scholarships and grants to the student winners so as to motivate them to work harder and do better; it is also held to spur on other students to devote more time and efforts into their study so as to advance jointly with their excellent peers.
