MUST Students Visit Melco Crown Entertainment A View Broadening Trip for FHTM Students

January 26, 2016.The group of 30 students, led by Prof. Chen Xi, Vice President of the Macau University of Science and Technology, Prof. Philip Xie, Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Ms. Brenda Yang, Program Director of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, and Ms. Amy Chan, Coordinator of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Planning, had broadened their prospective in hospitality and tourism from the visit to Studio City.

The MUST group started their journey at the 5000-seat Studio City Event Center, the most premium performance venue in Macau. Students learned how an international-standard performance is produced. The group then visited the Batman Dark Flight, the world’s first flight simulation ride based on the ‘Batman’ intellectual property franchise; they were also briefed on the design, construction and operation of the Golden Reel, Asia’s highest figure-8 Ferris wheel; and the tour concluded at The House of Magic, Macau’s first multi-theater resident magic show.

Prof. Chen Xi, Vice President of the Macau University of Science and Technology, said, “Melco Crown Entertainment’s rapid development in the leisure and tourism industries has demonstrated tremendous cultural creativity. The world-class entertainment offerings at Studio City are instrumental to Macau’s development into the World Center of Leisure and Tourism. This tour has been a great platform for students to broaden their horizons.”

Prof. Philip Xie, Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, said, “The behind-the-scenes tour organized by Melco Crown Entertainment has provided information and insights on the operations of a hotel and entertainment productions to our students who specialize in hospitality and tourism. These insights are essential for their professional knowledge and career planning.”
