Sponsored by Macau Foundation and organized by Faculty of Humanities and Arts, MUST, “The Exhibition of Life Drawing Works of Painters of Macau and Mainland China”was held on April 12, 2016 at Room 108 of the library building. The guests who attended the opening ceremony included: Mr. Hong Bo, Director of Youth Administration, Ministry of Culture and Education of Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, Ms. Zhong Yi, Member of Administrative Committee, Macau Foundation, Ms. Mu Xin Xin from Macau Cultural Industry Fund, Dr. Tong Ka Lok, Vice President of MUST, Mr. Lok Po, Director of Macau Daily News, Ms. Xu Ting Ting, Representative of Vice President of Macau Asia Satellite Television, Mr. Chan Weng Tat, Business Director of Bank of China, Macau Branch, Mr. Si Hou, Secretary-General of Henry Fok Foundation, Mr. Yang Tao, Chairman of Hong Kong Sino-Western Culture Exchange Association, Mr. Jiang Jian Wen, member of China Artists Association, painter, illustrator and chief editor of Zhejiang People’s Fine Arts Publishing House, and Prof. Yang Da Ming, Dean of Painting Academy of Macau.

Vice President Tong Ka Lok stated in his welcoming speech that the exhibition aimed to promote the cultural communication between Mainland China and Macau, and provide an opportunity for artists to share their artistic ideas with MUST teachers and students. The exhibition will be continued in other cities in the Mainland such as Hangzhou and Nanjing after Macau. It is hoped that the exhibition may not only serve as a mean of showing Macau’s uniqueness with its cultural diversity and friendly ambience, and Macau people’s ordinary but energetic life, but also let more people get to know the charm of this city and its development.

Mr. Jiang Jian Wen, an artist from the Mainland, said that Macau is a city with a combination of Chinese and Western cultures, humanity, long history and beautiful scenery, which greatly stimulated many artists’ creativity. According to Mr. Jiang, this exhibition is the beginning to develop friendship among artists from the two places.

Prof. Yang Da Ming, Dean of Painting Academy of Macau, indicated that the exhibition was a good opportunity for local painters to learn from the artists from the Mainland. He believed that as a way of artistic communication, the exhibition would help to strengthen the cultural atmosphere in MUST and Macau, and even encourage the development of local cultural industry. More than 40 exquisite paintings were displayed by 10 artists from the Mainland China and 5 local artists. They were: Mr. Zhou Gang, Mr. Zhang Jian Chun, Mr. Jiang Jian Wen, Mr. Zhang Yong, Mr. Li Yi Jun, Mr. Feng Ming, Mr. Geng Wang, Mr. Li Yong, Mr. Nie Zuo Hui, Mr. Rao Xiu Guang, Prof. Yang Da Ming, Mr. Lai Ieng, Dr. Chan Kai Chon, Mr. Szeto Nigel, and Mr. Choi Su Weng.

With the theme of“Macau in the eyes of painters”, the exhibition features the city style of Macau, such as architecture, scenery, and historic districts. The paintings integrate humanistic care, strong visual impact, and keen observation. The artists show their masterly skills , and the spirit of the timesby blending the environment with human’s emotions in the paintings.
