On May 19, 2016, prominent economist, Vice President of the China Enterprises Investment Association, Honorary Dean of the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, Professor Li Yi Ning led a delegation on a visit to Macau University of Science and Technology; the delegation was warmly welcomed and received by President Liu Liang, Vice President Tong Ka Lok, Vice President Pang Chuan, Prof. Lin Zhi Jun, Dean of School of Business (MSB), Associate Prof. Sheng Ni, and Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance of MSB, M.U.S.T., Prof. Liu Cheng Kun.
At the reception meeting, President Liu Liang introduced to the delegation that M.U.S.T. was established 16 years ago, and thanks to the Central Government’s support, it has grown to become the largest-scale university in Macau, as well as the youngest Top 50 University across the two straits and four regions. President Liu Liang pointed out that M.U.S.T. attached great importance to fostering talents and implemented the policy of bringing in talents; thus, over the past three years, over 200 full-time faculty members have been brought in, which has greatly boosted the University’s capacity and standards in education and research quality.
Prof. Li Yi Ning shared great insights on how to run an excellent business school, which, he held, required three conditions: a capable faculty team, a good student body of high quality, and development of reality-based science and technology. Prof. Li also pointed out that the Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, conducted research on the economic models of family businesses, while the characteristics of Macau’s family businesses actually had great research value; he thus expressed wishes that the School of Business of M.U.S.T. and the Guanghua School of Management of Peking University could enhance the tie and interaction between the two schools.

Before the meeting, President Liu Liang took Prof. Li and the delegation on a tour of the University’s Lunar and Planetary Science Laboratory – Partner Lab of the Key Lab of Lunar and Deep Space Exploration, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the exhibition of graduation works of the students of Faculty of Humanities and Arts.
