M.U.S.T. Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Invited to Visit Headquarter of Smart Travel Public Services Platform, China National Tourism Administration

On August 23, 2016, on invitation by the 12301 Smart Travel Public Services Platform, China National Tourism Administration (CNTA), Dean Xie Fei Fan of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.), and Assistant Prof. Xu Ye paid a visit to the Platform. The delegation were warmly received by Deputy Director Zhang Li Xin of the Tourism Bureau of the Changzhou Municipality, Deputy Director Wu Xiao Jiang of the Administrative Committee of the Changzhou West Tai Lake Science and Technology Industrial Park, General Manager Yuan Hua Ping of the National Smart Travel Public Services Platform, Chief Marketing Officer Li Nong of the Platform, and Director Zhou Yi of the Internet Interaction Center of the Platform. The two parties engaged in in-depth exchanges of views on the topic of smart travel. This visit by the delegation has great significances for the two parties with respect to training of talents, integration of industry and education, and collaboration of projects in relation to smart travel.

The headquarter of the 12301 Smart Travel Public Services Platform is situated at the west Tai Lake bank of Changzhou, Jiangsu. The Platform is constructed and operated by the CNTA as a large-scale demonstration project of public services for travel, which uses the “PPP (Public-Private Partnership)” model, a first-time for the CNTA; the Platform has 5 major strategic functions: announcement and release of public information in relation to tourism, supervision over the operation of the tourism industry, reservation for tickets and alarm of tourism flow across the national tourist destinations, multi-lingual tourism image promotion, and collection of big data in relation to the nation’s tourism. At the talk, the delegation was given a detailed introduction to the service forms and core functions of the Platform, as well as advices for Macau in terms of smart travel based on Macau’s travel resources.

Dean Xie Fei Fan also gave an introduction to the achievements of M.U.S.T. with respect to training of tourism talents, discussed on using apps for Macau’s tourist attractions, and explored the feasibility of smart hotels. The two parties concluded the meeting on a friendly note, noting that a lot has been learnt through the talk, and expecting to engage in further collaboration in the future.
