Faculty of Humanities and Arts “2017 Communication Week” Opens Macau Academy of Cinematic Arts and Global Digital Creations Signed Agreement to Launch Digital Technology Training Center

The “2017 Communication Week” academic series of Faculty of Humanities and Arts, Macau University of Science and Technology, was held from April 26 to 29. This year’s communication week took the theme of “Digital • Communication •Communicating the Cities”; the Opening Ceremony of the event was held in lecture hall N101 of M.U.S.T. in the morning of April 27. Officiating guests who attended the ceremony include Mr. Li Yong Xian, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Education of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S.A.R., Mr. Chang Kun Hong, Deputy Director of the Macao Tertiary Education Services (GAES), Mr. Chan Chi Ping, Director of the Information Bureau of the Macao S.A.R., Mr. Chui Sai Peng, Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Macao S.A.R., Ms. Chan Chung Yan, Director of the Secretariat of Macao Foundation, Ms. Chu Miu Lai, Member of the Administrative Committee of the Cultural Industry Fund (FIC), Mr. Huang Dan, Director of the Center for Information and Communication Studies for Fudan University, Mr. Chen Zheng, Chief Executive of Global Digital Creations Holdings Limited, President Liu Liang of M.U.S.T., Vice President Pang Chuan, and Dean Zhang Zhi Qing of Faculty of Humanities and Arts.

Vice President Pang Chuan addressed the Opening Ceremony, noting that as the youngest university among the Top 100 Universities of Greater China, M.U.S.T. has made great progresses over the years, which would not have happened without the support of the social communities. The University sought partnerships with various kinds of academic institutions nationally and internationally, which has greatly advanced the academic development of M.U.S.T. and even Macau. This year, with the approval of the National Ministry of Education, the Macau Media Research Center of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts of M.U.S.T. partnered up with, and therefore became a partner research base of, the Center for Information and Communication Studies for Fudan University, which is a Key Humanities and Social Sciences Research Base of Ministry of Education. He noted that by way of close collaboration with Fudan University, the University’s research capacity in communication will reach new height, which will make great contributions for communication development of Macau and for the construction of media ecology in Macau.

Ever since M.U.S.T. launched the Macau Academy of Cinematic Arts in 2015, it has trained special talents of film management and film production for Macau and the neighboring regions, which has greatly enabled the development and growth of film in Macau as a comprehensive communication media form. The Macau Academy of Cinematic Arts and the Global Digital Creations Holdings Limited signed agreement to establish a talents training center to foster a new generation of digital film talents. President Liu Liang of M.U.S.T. and Chief Executive Chen Zheng of Global Digital Creations Holdings Limited administered the plaque-unveiling ceremony for the Talents Training Center. Afterwards, under the witness of President Liu Liang and Chief Executive Chen Zheng, Professor Zhang Zhi Qing, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts and Mr. Xiao Yong, General Manager of the Institute of Digital Media Technology (Shenzhen) Limited signed agreement.
The “2017 Communication Week” academic series invites scholars of the communication field from Fudan University, Wuhan University, The Communication University of China, Shandong University, City University of Hong Kong, Taiwan Ming Chuan University, Private Chinese Culture University, and other higher institutions, to participate in the event, and organized multiple sessions of academic forums and seminars.
