School of Business organizes seminar with Monetary Authority of Macao

The School of Business (MSB) at Macau University of Science and Technology organized a seminar titled “Research and Statistics of the Monetary Authority of Macao”with the Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) on campus on 10 October. Ms. Helena Leong Man Ngan, Deputy Director of the Research and Statistics Department of the AMCM, Mr. Dennis Lei Kuai Hou, Senior Economist, Ms. Isabel W.T. Choy, Economist, Professor Lin Zhijun, Dean of MSB, Associate Professor Liu Chengkun, Head of Department of Accounting and Finance, Assistant Professor Ma Rufei, and around 80 MSF graduate students attended the seminar.

Ms. Isabel W.T. Choy, guest speaker of the seminar, introduced the responsibilities and the official statistical work of the AMCM, and explained numerous examples of financial statistics such as money, mortgage and foreign exchange reserves. She also demonstrated Macao’s recent financial development and the AMCM’s research results. After the seminar, speakers discussed Macao’s featured financial business, financial leasing industry, and other issues with faculties and students of MSB.

MSB master students of Finance learnt the economic and financial statistics published by the AMCM through this seminar. It also deepened their understanding of the Macao’s money and finance system, and gained insights from professionals which will greatly benefit their academic study and scientific research in future.
