Chairman Ma Chi Ngai of Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) Paid a Visit to MUST, Giving Recognitions for MUST’s Development Strategy of Attaching Equal Importance to Teaching and Research

On September 5, 2014, Mr. Ma Chi Ngai, Chairman of the Administration Council of the FDCT paid a visit to MUST, together with his colleagues Mr. Chan Wan Hei, member of the Council of Administration, Mr. Liu Liang Gang, advisor on science and technology, Mr. Ip Kwai Lam, senior manager of the department of science and technology development, Ms. Chu Iek Man, senior manager of the department of project sponsorship services, and Ms. Luk Fung Yiu, assistant of the chairman. The FDCT delegation was warmly welcomed by Chair Prof. Liu Liang, President of MUST, Prof. Jiang Zhi Hong, Associate Vice President of MUST, Prof. Tang Ze Sheng, Director of the Space Science Institute, Prof. Tsoi Ah Chung, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Prof. Wu Nai Qi, and Ms. Lou Lai Chu, Vice Executive Director of the Research and Technology Administration office.

At the meeting, President Liu Liang first gave sincere thanks to Chairman Ma Chi Ngai for his kindness of visiting the University in the first week after taking office and for his care about the University. The President then briefed Chairman Ma and the delegation about MUST in regard to its academic programs and disciplines, scale of education, student recruitment, etc. He particularly talked about the ten existing research institutes of MUST and their most competitive research areas, summarized the major research development and achievements of the University over the recent years, and expressed that in the future, the University would continue to make major efforts to advance its research work. Chairman Ma thanked the President for his detailed introduction and recognized the important of the University’s future key research areas of development. He also appreciated and congratulated the University on its enhancement of academic quality, improvement of both quantity and quality of publication, internationalization of research achievements, and others. Chairman Ma remarked that the FDCT would like to render full support to the University so that the two sides can jointly advance Macau’s research development. He also expected that the University would soon industrialize its patent achievements so as to make contributions for Macau’s transfer to knowledge-based society.

Afterwards, Chairman Ma and other delegates visited the “Space Exploration Exhibition --- A Closer Look at the Mystery of the Solar System” held by the Space Science Institute of MUST and the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicines.
