Biography of Ms. HO Sut Heng

Ms Ho Sut HengMs. HO Sut Heng is a well-known, highly regarded figure in Macao. She is currently the President of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, Member of the Deputies to the 12th National People’s Congress from the Macao S.A.R., and Member of the University Council of Macau University of Science and Technology. In December of 2017, Ms. HO Sut Heng was elected as one the Member of the Deputies to the 13th National People’s Congress from the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China; in November of 2019, she was awarded Honorable Medal of Silver Lotus Flower of the Macao S.A.R.

Since she took up the presidency of the Macao Federation of Trade Unions, Ms. HO Sut Heng has been devoted to moving forward union work. It’s her view that what matters most for a union worker is to serve the fellow union workers with a full heart, extend compassion toward the general employees, act with hard work, solve problems in a legitimate, sensible and reasonable fashion, give special care and devotion to those frontline workers taking into account their diversities and difficulties, and relent no efforts to coordinate, communicate and unite fellow workers. She firmly believes that the Macao Federation of Trade Unions will continue to bring solidarity to the union workers, improve their personal qualities, empower them to integrate into the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and fulfill the forces of the union workers in the new historical era.

Ms. HO Sut Heng was born and grew up in Macao. She is deeply attached to the Macao society and public. The Macao Federation of Trade Unions, under the leadership of Ms. HO, oversees 72 directly affiliated members and 8 honorary members, divided into 8 union industries, including Macao Construction Industry General Union, Macao Manufacturing Industry General Union, Macau Gaming Enterprises Staff’s Association, The Service Sector Employees' General Association of Macau, Macao Federation of Transportation, General Association of Macau Clerical Employees, Associação dos Trabalhadores da Função Pública de Origem Chinesa and Commercial Employees’ General Association of Macau. To this date, the Federation has founded more than 40 educational, medical and community services organizations and event venues for sports, cultural, and leisure activities, thus providing diverse and convenient social welfare services for the trade unions of all fields and the general public and making significant contributions to a closer tie with the Macao public and to the prosperity and development of Macao.
