Summary of Position

The Macau University of Science and Technology seeks applications for the post of Baking and Pastry Chef Instructor. The candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent baking and pastry skills through experience to promote effective teaching and advising of students plus excellent oral and written communication skills. The successful candidate will develop the baking and pastry course information according to the curriculum, and provide the students with a unique combination of comprehensive theoretical knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in food services. This position will make certain that the fundamentals of the baking and pastry skills are taught in an environment that builds teamwork while gaining practical individualized experience.

This person will design the baking and pastry courses information to produce quality bake goods and pastry products for campus outlets. The position requires participating on and off campus activities.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and instruct students according to designed lesson plan and syllabus;
  2. Supervise and conduct learning activities effectively and efficiently based on course schedule;
  3. Produce quality products according to the portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures;
  4. Manage the environment through keeping sanitary work station, and enforcing proper food handling.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in a field related to the Bachelor of Food and Beverage Management with a Master's degree preferred or the equivalent in terms of industry experience;
  2. Capability in specialty in breads, cakes, gâteaux, torten, tarts, and frozen desserts making;
  3. Knowledge in chocolate, marzipan, nougatine, pastillage and sugar techniques;
  4. At least five years of baking and pastry experience in professional establishments preferred;
  5. Memberships in professional F&B related associations are preferred;
  6. Good command of spoken English & Cantonese / Mandarin is an advantage.
