2022 Annual Conference of the “Maritime Silk Road Tourism Education Alliance”

On December 15, 2022, Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) was invited to attend the “Maritime Silk Road Tourism Education Alliance Annual Conference”. Associate Professor Jose Weng Chou Wong of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) attended the signing ceremony.

The annual conference was sponsored by Hainan University, attended by Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Film and Sports, Hainan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office (Foreign Affairs Administration and Service Office), Hainan Provincial Education Department (International Cooperation and Exchange Office: Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office), Hainan Cultural and Tourism Conference, and Haikou Central City Cultural and Tourism Industry Research Institute. Other universities attending the conference include Hainan University, Alberta International School of Recreation, Sport and Tourism of Beijing Sport University, Beijing International Studies University, City University of Macau, Huaqiao University, Yangzhou University, Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, Technological University Dublin, Management and Science University (Malaysia), Tunku Abdul Rahman University, Northern University of Malaysia, University for the Creative Arts, and Silk Road The University of International Tourism and Cultural Heritage and 14 other institutions.

The “Maritime Silk Road Tourism Education Alliance” aims to promote cooperation and win-win results between tourism and education institutions of countries along the Maritime Silk Road, and jointly build a tourism education cooperation community of countries along the Maritime Silk Road in the 21st century in terms of scientific research projects, curriculum co-construction, and teacher-student exchanges. In this annual conference, 12 higher tourism education institutions at home and abroad signed to join the “Maritime Silk Road Tourism Education Alliance”, and jointly issued the alliance “Haikou Declaration”.

In the keynote seminar session, Associate Professor Jose Weng Chou Wong introduced the “Development Status of College”, “Curriculum characteristics of college” and “Characteristics Courses of College” to the members of the forum.

As a member institution of the Alliance, MUST will strengthen cooperation and exchanges with other member institutions to build an international tourism education cooperation platform covering countries along the Maritime Silk Road, with complementary advantages and win-win results.
