FIT students won one second prize and one third prize of the 15th “HUAWEI CUP” China Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling

Recently, the results of the 15th “HUAWEI CUP” China Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modelling were announced, from the Faculty of Information Technology of Macau University of Science and Technology, the team consisting of two PHD students Xixi Yuan and Lianghai Wu, and one postgraduate student Yuyun Chen won the 2nd prize. At the same time, the team of three postgraduate students, Lei Wang, Xinyuan Zhang and Yumo Zhang from the Faculty of Information Technology won the 3rd prize at the 15th “Huawei Cup” China Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modelling. Both teams were supervised by Professor Zhanchuan Cai of the Faculty of Information Technology.
In the 15th “HUAWEI CUP” China Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modelling, 12,207 teams from 439 postgraduate institutions of 32 provinces, cities, and regions (including Hong Kong and Macau) have participated, including 1,500 PHD students. The “National Postgraduate Mathematical Contest in Modelling” is organized by China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC), and Children and Youth Science Center China Association for Science and Technology, one of the themed events of the “National Postgraduate Innovation and Practice Activities Series”, founded in 2003. Moreover, it is an academic competition for postgraduates at school to study the application of mathematical modelling. It is a platform for them to improve their ability to build mathematical models and solve practical problems by using Internet information technology, and to cultivate their scientific research innovation spirit and team cooperation consciousness. For many years, the university has supported students to participate in the event in teams, and has won many successes.
