A Student from the School of Computer Science and Engineering won the first prize in the 2021 Pan-Pearl River Delta+ University Student Computer Competition

The sixteenth Pan Pearl River Delta+ University Student Computer Competition Grand Final was successfully concluded recently. Fifty-five teams from across the P. R. China and Singapore were selected for the finals. After two days of fierce competition, Liying Yang comes from M.U.S.T. won the first prize.

The Pan Pearl River Delta+ University Student Computer Competition has been held for sixteen years. It's a national science and technological competition, which was recognized by industry and academia. This year’s event is jointly organized by Macao Computer Society and Macao Polytechnic University. A total of tens of thousands of university students participated, in particular, for the first time this year, there was a new team from Singapore. The organizers expect to further expand the participating regions, improve the science and technology innovation platform for university students, enhance the science and technology innovation ability of university students, and jointly contribute to the development of science and technology innovation and promote the development of national scientific research.

Liying Yang, from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, won the first prize in the finals with her work "Multi-view 3D Object Reconstruction Based on Deep Learning" under the careful and patient guidance of Associate Professor Yanyan Liang. 3D reconstruction is an important research direction in computer vision, which refers to the process of reconstructing 3D information from single-view or multi-view images. The work used deep learning method to process the information of open dataset and finally achieved excellent results.
