The 6th Huawei ICT Competition Asia Pacific Awards Ceremony was successfully held on March 25, 2022. The team from Macau University of Science and Technology won the 2nd Prize in the Huawei ICT Competition Asia Pacific on Network Track after several rounds of fierce competition and become one of regional representatives progressing to the Global Final.

The Huawei Global ICT Competition is an annual Information and Communications Technology (ICT) competition held by Huawei for college students around the world. For the purpose of connecting with government organizations, higher education institutions, colleges and universities, training institutions, and industry enterprises, it provides the students an international competition and exchange platform to enhance their ICT knowledge and improve their practical skills and innovation. This year' s competition has attracted 5,300 students from 286 schools of 10 countries/regions in the Asia-Pacific region. With total number of 272 ICT Academies to compete in two technological tracks of Network and Cloud, making up from 21 Network Teams and 17 Cloud Teams via Huawei eLab and Huawei Cloud environment, all the teams competed the competition in the Asia-Pacific region on the 12th of this month. In the end, the team from Macau University of Science and Technology led by assistant professor Cheang Chak Fong and consists of three students, Kang Yuwei, Shen Kehua and Li Tianshu, entered the Global Final as the winners of the 2nd Prize of the Asia-Pacific on network track, and will compete with other students from Western Europe, Latin America, Africa, and mainland China, Middle East, and Eurasian teams.
The M.U.S.T. teams participating this competition are all from the School of Computer Science and Engineering. One of them, Kang Yuwei, a third-year undergraduate team member, said that their three students had already started preparing for this competition during the summer vacation last year. After many rounds of competition, from being shortlisted in the preliminary round last September to winning the second prize in the Macau Final, it is a great honor to be able to advance to the Asia-Pacific competition. Looking back on the past few months, our team members worked together, helped each other, and made progress together. Moreover, under the guidance and help of Assistant Professor Cheang, changing our team from the lack of confidence and interaction at the beginning, to being able to overcome difficulties together later, I feel that the strong cooperation of the team played a crucial role in the whole competition. Because everyone worked hard to learn network knowledge, take the certification exam, make the preparations by practicing the simulation test, consolidate and summarize problems over and over again, and finally successfully entered to the Global Final. This is the result of the joint efforts of teachers and students. We will continue to do our best to prepare for the next competition and strive to win honors for our university!
