General Chair Zhang delivering a welcome speech
The IEEE International Conference on Tools with Artificial Intelligence is an annual flagship conference in the field of artificial intelligence under the IEEE Computer Society. The conference series started in 1989 and has been successfully held for 34 years. The ICTAI focuses on the latest research advancement, applications, and tools development related to artificial intelligence. Its objective is to promote the transformation of artificial intelligence theories and methods into practical tools for the development of intelligent systems and artificial intelligence applications. For ICTAI 2022, Chair Prof. Du Zhang serves as its General Chair; Prof. Wenmin Wang as Program Co-Chair; Prof. Zhanchuan Cai as the Financial & Registration Chair; and Assistant Prof. Ting Lan and Assistant Prof. Ben Ye as the Publicity Chairs. At the opening ceremony of the conference, General Chair Zhang extended a warm welcome to the attendees, acknowledged the close academic collaborations among Macau University of Science and Technology, the Wright State University, and the University of Alberta in the past, and pointed out that the success of this conference is the embodiment of such collaboration. The Macau University of Science and Technology is a young university that has always attached great importance to internationalization. As one of the organizing universities, M.U.S.T. seeks to further raise its visibility via international academic forums such as ICTAI, promote collaboration and cooperation amount experts, scholars, and developers, and deepen its ties with universities, research institutions, and domestic and foreign enterprises.
The Conference Steering Committee Chair Prof. Nikolaos G. Bourbakis from Wright State University, USA, and the Program Chair Prof. Marek Reformat from the University of Alberta, Canada, also delivered opening speeches.
The conference technical program includes 5 keynote speeches and 70 sessions. The 5 keynote speeches are “Advanced Biometrics: Research and Development” by Prof. Zhang Dapeng from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen); “Artificial Intelligence Technologies for Forensic Anthropology and Human Identification” by Prof. Oscar Cordón from the University of Granada, Spain; “Neurosymbolic AI for Explainable Sentiment Analysis” by Prof. Erik Cambria from the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; “Evaluating Machine Learning Algorithms with Highly Imbalanced Big Data” by Prof. Taghi Khoshgoftaar from the Florida Atlantic University, USA; and “Deep Learning 2.0: Extending the Power of Deep Learning to the Meta-Level” by Prof. Frank Hutter from the University of Freiburg, Germany.
