Laboratory of Animal Models in Translational Medicine

The laboratory aims to establish a versatile animal platform for innovative drug design and discovery, so as to promote translation research in cancerous, inflammatory, autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases.

The animal laboratory contains variety of transgenic animals including nude mice, conditional-knockin and -knockout mice, Cre-inducible knockin rat and gene deficient SD rat for establishment of various disease models. In addition, the laboratory is also equipped with cutting-edge instruments including Skyscan 1176 microCT, In-Vivo Xtreme animal imaging system, Beckman ultracentrifuge, fluorescence imaging microscopy, fear conditioning behavioral system, stereotaxic apparatus, Y-maze system, stroke physiological model apparatus, rotarod system and pain assessment device etc., for the evaluation of natural compounds efficacy in tumor, aging, arthritis, depression, stroke and neurodegenerative disease models.

Main Research Focuses:

  • To investigate the in vivoanti-tumor effect of ion channels modulator via inhibition of exosomal PD-L1 production;
  • To discover ion channels inhibitor for target gene therapy in cancer;
  • To investigate the anti-arthritis effect of ion channels modulator viastimulation of mesenchymal stem cell exosomal PD-L1 excretion;
  • To evaluate the alleviating effect of eefit Far-infrared technology in arthritis, aging, neurodegenerative and depression models;
  • To identify ion channels modulator for stroke, depression and neurodegenerative diseases.
