M.U.S.T. Holds the 6th Chinese Medicine Immunology Academic Conference Successfully in Tianjin

Macau University of Science and Technology held the “6th Annual Conference of the Specialty Committee of Immunology of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and Cross-Strait, Hong Kong and Macao Rheumatology Treatment Advancement Conference” in Tianjin from the 15th to the 17th of November, 2019. Over 300 experts and scholars from China and abroad, including Italy, Nederland, South Korea, the U.S., and Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, attended the Opening Ceremony and the conference, and participated in discussions on research and treatment of rheumatic and immune diseases and cancer based on traditional Chinese medicine, and shared information on the latest discoveries and achievements in research of relevant drugs.

Guests attending the Opening Ceremony included Mr. Sang Binsheng, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Chair Prof. Liu Liang, Chairman of the Special Committee of Immunology of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, President of the Cross Straits-Hong Kong-Macau Collaboration Center of Science and Technology in Chinese Medicine and President of Macau University of Science and Technology, Ms. Anne Marie Pordon, Publisher from Elsevier Publication Group, Prof. Emilio Clementi, Editor-in-Chief of Pharmacological Research and Professor at the University of Milan, Italy, Prof. Gao Xiumei, Vice President of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Prof. Liu Xinqiao, Vice President of the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Special Committee of Immunology of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Prof. Xu Qiang, Vice President of the School of Life Sciences, Nanjing University, and Prof. Liu Wei, Director of the Rheumatology and Immunology Department of the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Succeeding Chairman for the Rheumatology and Immunology Committee of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine. 

Vice Chairman Sang Binsheng gave a speech

Mr. Sang Binsheng, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, delivered a speech at the Opening Ceremony. He expressed congratulations for the successful opening of the annual conference, and complimented the Special Committee of Immunology of Traditional Chinese Medicine for its important role in accelerating the internationalization of Chinese medicine. President Liu Liang of Macau University of Science and Technology also delivered a speech, where he expressed sincere thanks to the Macao Foundation, Macao Science and Technology Development Fund, Hunan Zhengqing Pharmaceutical Group Co., LTD, Shenzhen Beijiguang Import and Export Science and Technology LTD, and Eli Lilly and Company, U.S. for their support, as well as thanks to the organizer and co-organizers of the meeting.

Chair Prof. Liu liang gave a keynote speech

The meeting received altogether 176 abstracts. Chair Prof. Liu Liang, Prof. Emilio Clementi, Prof. Liu Wei, Prof. Bai Gang, and Prof. Lv Haitao gave keynote speeches. Another 24 specialists in biomedicine, rheumatology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, immunology, cancer and other fields were invited to give special-topic presentations in relation to research and applications of rheumatology drugs, research progress in diagnosis of rheumatic diseases and cancer treament in the scope of Chinese medicine, integrated research of rheumatic diseases in Chinese and western medicine, and other frontier academic topics. The attending experts expressed and exchanged views freely and discussed the progress and new directions for the relevant fields.

During the meeting, an award presentation ceremony was held for the Pharmacological Research awards in traditional Chinese medicine, where two prizes, Best Paper in Chinese Medicine Research and Best Abstract in Chinese Medicine, were given out respectively by President Emilio Clementi and Chair Prof. Liu Liang. Three research teams, headed respectively by Prof. Liu Zhongqiu from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Prof. Yu Zhiling from Hong Kong Baptist University, and Prof. Chen Jianxin from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, won the prize of Best Paper in Chinese Medicine Research. Other five research teams, headed respectively by Chair Prof. Liu Liang from Macau University of Science and Technology, Prof. Lu Fangguo from Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, Prof. Huang Runyue from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Prof. Cai Xiong from Hunan University of Chinese Medicine, and Prof. Liu Jianxin from Hunan University of Chinese Medicine won the prize of Best Abstract in Chinese Medicine.

The conference was co-hosted by the Specialty Committee of Immunology of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and the Cross Straits-Hong Kong-Macau Collaboration Center of Science and Technology in Chinese Medicine, co-organized by the First Teaching Hospital of Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine (Macau University of Science and Technology), and jointly assisted by Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine, Pharmacological Research Publication, Faculty of Chinese Medicine of Macau University of Science and Technology, and Macau International Collaboration Alliance for Rheumatology Research. The event was given great support by Macao Foundation, Macao Science and Technology Development Fund, Hunan Zhengqing Pharmaceutical Group Co., LTD, Shenzhen Beijiguang Import and Export Science and Technology LTD, and the Eli Lilly and Company, U.S.
