The Brain Cognition and Brain Disease Institute of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Macau University of Science and Technology sign cooperation agreement: Jointly conduct research in biomedicine and brain science

On June 7, The Greater Bay Area Symposium for Neural Plasticity and Innovative Drugs was held online. In order to promote the synergistic development of biomedicine, innovative drugs and brain science in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, and to enhance the strength of the disciplines and realize the complementary advantages, Dr. Neher’s Biophysics Laboratory for Innovative Drug Discovery, State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, Macau University of Science and Technology and Shenzhen Neher Neural Plasticity Lab, Institute of Brain Cognition and Brain Diseases, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly held the Greater Bay Area Symposium for Neural Plasticity and Innovative Drugs and signed a cooperation agreement.

At the beginning of the symposium, Prof. Yingjie Zhu (second row, first from left), Executive Director of Shenzhen Neher Neural Plasticity Lab, Institute of Brain Cognition and Brain Diseases, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Associate Prof. Elaine Lai-Han Leung (first row, fourth from left), Executive Director of Dr. Neher’s Biophysics Laboratory for Innovative Drug Discovery, State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, Macau University of Science and Technology, delivered welcoming speeches and briefly introduced the development status of their respective laboratories and team members. Both parties expect to further deepen the mutual understanding between the two laboratories through this seminar and to complement each other's strengths, and strengthen cooperation. A total of 13 professors from the two laboratories gave excellent presentations at the symposium. The online discussions were lively, and the participants were interested.

At the end of the symposium, Prof. Erwin Neher, Director of Dr. Neher’s Biophysics Laboratory for Innovative Drug Discovery Laboratory (first row, first from left), and Prof. Yingjie Zhu, Executive Director of the Shenzhen Neher Neural Plasticity Laboratory, signed a cooperation framework agreement online, agreeing to jointly build a joint laboratory for traditional medicine and biomedicine. The two laboratories have their strengths and advantages. The collaboration will enable both parties to complement each other's strengths and develop together. With the signing of this cooperation agreement, the two laboratories will jointly establish a collaborative platform to conduct high-level research, strengthen the exchange of talents and cooperation between the two teams, together with train talents, promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements of both sides, and enhance the competitiveness of the science and technology industry in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.
