About the Base

In alignment with the implementation and deployment of the national Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Macau University of Science and Technology inaugurated the Hengqin-M.U.S.T. Industry-Education-Research Collaboration Base - Zhuhai-M.U.S.T. Science and Technology Research Institute (hereafter referred as the M.U.S.T. Industry-Education-Research Collaboration Base) the first M.U.S.T. collaboration base in the Greater Bay Area. The Base accentuates Macao’s active participating role in the development of the “Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao” scientific and technological innovation corridor and its integration into the national development plan.

The M.U.S.T. Industry-Education-Research Collaboration Base is comprised of the headquarter of the Zhuhai-M.U.S.T. Research Institute, and the branches of the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicines and the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences.

The M.U.S.T. Industry-Education-Research Collaboration Base is built upon the existing research teams and achievements of the University’s state key laboratories. It integrates cross-university collaborations between M.U.S.T. and its national and international counterparts to foster advantage-bearing industries, promote international exchanges for science and technology achievements, elevate the standards of science and technology development, and cause international impact. By showcasing the significant research achievements of the laboratories, the Base aims to provide world experts with an industry-education-research collaboration exchange platform of science and technology research that elevates China’s stance, and that nurses the Greater Bay Area into a global highland of science and technology innovations with the prospect of becoming a significant hub for emerging industries. The initiative further promotes the implementation of “One Country, Two Systems” in Macao, by reinforcing industry ties between city-clusters across Macao and the GBA.
