The Summer School for Planetary Science and Exploration in East Asia (SSPSEEA 2016), which will serve as an educational communication meeting for students and early career scientists in planetary science, will be held at the Kingdom Hotel at the Optical Valley of Wuhan during 6 – 8 June 2016 (http://www.whkingdom.com/).

The growing interest on deep space exploration among east Asia counties greatly promote the development of planetary science worldwide. Education of planetary sciences as well as an international communication among young students and scientists is critically important for the further development of planetary science in Asian countries. Expert faculties will direct a comprehensive 3-day short course of lectures, presentations, and discussions in the new modern city Wuhan.

During the course, students are required to attend the joint symposium: the International Symposium on Lunar and Planetary Science (ISLPS 2016; www.must.edu.mo/ISLPS2016/), which will also be held at the Kingdom Hotel.

No formal course credits will be given, but certification of satisfactory completion of the course will be supplied.

Note that the sessions with oral presentations will contain only solicited talks (the speakers and presentation titles will be indicated in the formal version of the program, which will be provided on registration), but the program is organized such that there will be ample time for discussions and working sessions, allowing all summer school participants to contribute actively.

Venue

SSPSEEA 2016 will take place at the Kingdom Hotel (http://www.whkingdom.com/) at the Optical Valley, which is adjacent to the beautiful East Lake. Address: Luoyu Rd, Hongshan, Wuhan, Hubei, China.

The venue can be easily connected to other famous tourist sites at Wuhan by public bus, taxi, and walk, such as the Optical Valley, East Lake, the Wuhan University, The Hubei Provincial Museum, the Yellow Crane Tower, and the Guiyuan Temple.

Due to the vast construction in the city, we encourage the attendees to take taxis to and from the airport, which normally takes more than 1 hour.

Remarks

LOC has booked double-bed rooms for the FORMAL students. Two students will share a room during both SSPSSEA and ISLPS2016. Please contact and choose your roommate from the list of formal students, or we would arrange the roommates for you (by gender). Students who wish to stay alone need to pay an extra of 250 RMB Yuan/night onsite.

We encourage the observers to book the hotel room as soon as possible. June 6-8th will also be the days for the Gaokao 2016 (National College Entrance Examination), which will be the busy time for hotels. Also, we have highly competitive contract price with the hotel for both this short course and the meeting.
