MUST Institute of System Engineering and Chinese Academy of Sciences Jointly Promote Innovations in Research and Education

Macau Institute of System Engineering of MUST recently held the “2015 International Workshop on Complex Systems and their Modeling, Control, Scheduling and Security Management” at N101 of the library building. Keynote speakers at the Workshop include Prof. Fei-Yue Wang, Fellow of IEEE, winner of the 2014 Norbert Wiener Award, and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Management and Control for Complex Systems, the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Chi-Hsu Wang, Fellow of IEEE, and Prof. Dmitry Goldgof, Fellow of IEEE, and other one hundred and fifty renowned scholars from the USA, Japan, France, Canada, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other regions also attended the Workshop.

When addressing the Opening Ceremony of the Workshop, President Liu Liang of MUST noted that the Macau Institute of System Engineering of MUST is an international research platform established by the University over the past two years; the University has brought in a number of international top scholars to empower this platform,. The research conducted by the Macau Institute of System Engineering responds closely to practical needs, and the result of which could be industrialized through industry-education-research collaborations. At the Workshop, Prof. Fei-Yue Wang gave a keynote speech on “Toward a Smart World of Parallel Societies”, making assessment for and summary of the development of theories over the past ten years and the relevant applications in the real society.

During the conference, Prof. Wu Nai Qi, Director of the Macau Institute of System Engineering, and Prof. Fei-Yue Peng, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Management and Control for Complex Systems, the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, signed MOU; the two parties will engage in collaborations in the area of system engineering and smart computing, so as to jointly promote innovations in research and education.
