On January 2, 2020, invited by China Pharmaceutical University, Associate Professor Zhang Wei led seven students from the Faculty of Chinese Medicine (FC) went to Nanjing to participate in the 8-day "2020 Winter Study Camp of Chinese Pharmacy for Hong Kong and Macau Students".
The winter training camp was sponsored by China Pharmaceutical University. More than 20 teachers and students from FC as well as Hong Kong Baptist University participated in this activity. The attendee attended the opening ceremony and visited the Pharmaceutical Museum of China Pharmaceutical University, the simulation pharmacy, the GMP training center and the experimental center. They learned about the historical changes of traditional Chinese Medicine and the innovative experience of modern Chinese Medicine, experienced learning and experimental environment of China Pharmaceutical University, and conducted academic exchange with teachers and students from different universities.
The training camp is rich in learning content. Professor Zhang Chunfeng gave a lecture on "The Magical World of Traditional Chinese Medicine", introduced the outstanding contribution, efficacy, pharmaceutical technology, and the diversity of administration routes of traditional Chinese Medicine, and made students realized the magical effects of traditional Chinese Medicine. The students visited the Medicinal Botanical Garden of China Pharmaceutical University and learned about the varieties, characteristics and uses of many medicinal materials. Through practical activities such as personal contact, observing its shape, and tasting its taste, the students' impression of Chinese herbal medicine plants was deepened and students' interest in Chinese herbal medicine plants was aroused. The students also visited Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Nanjing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. One of the two hospitals followed the traditional manual dispensing model, and the other used a new intelligent dispensing system, which allowed the students to understand the medical methods of traditional Chinese Medicine. It also made the students realized the important value of modern technology in the pioneering application of Chinese Medicine and the future development of Chinese medicine must rely on the organic combination of the two.
The "2020 Winter Study Camp for Chinese Pharmacy for Hong Kong and Macao Students" not only allowed the students to further study and consolidate the traditional knowledge in the field of Chinese medicine, but also to appreciate the application of modern advanced science and technology and concepts in Chinese Medicine; and at the same time, they also discussed in depth how to promote Chinese Medicine inheriting innovation and development, more confident in the development prospects of Chinese Medicine. This event was funded by the Macau Higher Education Office.
