The Thesis Writing Talk for Master of Law students was held by Faculty of Law on 30 October. Teachers from Faculty of Law, Wang Chuanhui, Bi Jingwei, Chen Bo and around a hundred master students were participated in the captioned talk.

Firstly, Bi Jingwei analyzed the relation between academic training and obtaining a degree, in order to inspire students to have high criterion and requirement for their academic research no matter how they choose their career direction in the future. At the same time, by expounding the difference between natural science and social science, Bi Jingwei explained to the students that they should pay attention to logical structure, rigorous language, completed explanation and accurate expression while they are working on the thesis writing. Besides, Bi Jingwei also reminded the students that they should treat the interdisciplinary research method correctly, do not stay at the exterior only and to avoid only listing and stacking the points in the thesis.
Besides, Bi Jingwei shared two ways of thesis writing to the students which are “factual perspective in hermeneutics” and “ideal perspective in legislative theory”. He also explained how to get the balance when using the above mentioned ways.
Lastly, the teachers explicated how to choose the topic of the thesis and the way of titling the thesis. Students benefited a lot through this talk and which provided them a deeper understanding of thesis writing and academic research.
