Teachers and Students of Faculty of Law Participated in the Online Activity of “2021 CUPL-Beijing Winter Camp for Hong Kong and Macao Law Students”

To enrich students’ holiday lives, broaden their vision promote understanding of Macao students’ to laws in Mainland, enhance exchanges between teachers and students in Mainland and Macao, the “ 2021 CUPL-Beijing Winter Camp for Hong Kong and Macao Law Students” was held during 26th to 31st, December 2021. Impacted by the ongoing global epidemic of COVID-19, the winter camp was held online. On behalf of the Faculty of Law, MUST, Assistant Professor Wong Weng Kuok and eight students, Du Jian You, Qin Yu Tong, Zhou Xing Shan, Wang Zi Shen, Zhang Mei Qi, Liu Zheng Yi, Feng Shang Chen, and Chen De participated in this activity, which lasted 6 days and attracted more than one hundred teachers and students from universities of Hong Kong, Macao and China University of Political Science and Law, providing great chances for teachers and students to exchange and sharing experiences.

The winter camp started on 26 December 2021 and classes started on 27th. Seven teachers from the China University of Political Science and Law gave lectures online, which covered topics from clinical legal education, the basic framework and latest development of administrative legislation in Mainland, overview, and development of China’s Criminal Law, the outline of China’s Civil Law, legal issues on recovery of cultural relics overseas, regulations of financial innovation and implementation of China’s Constitution. Besides, it was honorable to have an informal discussion with experts and representatives from Beijing Internet Court, the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China, The Office of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR of the P.R. China in Beijing, The Office of the Government of the Macao SAR of the P.R. China in Beijing, the Basic Law Committee of the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR of the National People’s Congress of the P. R. China. The lectures and seminars of this online winter camp were very rich, which helped students deepen their understanding of the Constitution and Basic Laws, laws, and judicial systems in Mainland and improved their abilities to re-examine legal issues with long-term, comprehensive and sober-minded perspectives, establishing lofty ideas and pursuing personal achievements with consideration of national development.

During the winter camp, the eight students cooperated with outstanding student representatives in different project groups from mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan in a positive and hard-working learning atmosphere, they enjoyed colorful and exciting extracurricular activities and developed a profound friendship. The students said that the winter camp offered great opportunities to learn from teachers and students from other universities, enabling them to systematically acknowledge the current development of law-based governance. Benefited from the dual-track teaching and comparative perspectives in the Faculty of Law of MUST, the students could quickly master the teaching content and had a wonderful performance in the cooperation with students from different universities, through which they exactly knew about cooperation between multiple legal regions and had a new thought about their profession and career.

The winter camp ended with the speech of the Director of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan Affairs Office of China University of Political Science and Law in the afternoon of 31st December 2021 and achieved full success.
