She pointed out that reading was the basis of thought and writing, and reading ability could only be improved by extensive reading. Therefore, she encouraged students to read academic classics. She also hoped that students could communicate with their supervisors frequently and master independent research ability with the help of supervisors.

Associate Professor Wang Chuan Hui shared his viewpoints on studying and research of the doctoral program emphasized the importance of research and encouraged students to accomplish a thesis that really made academic contributions. He hoped new students could realize that the doctoral programs meant that they had become independent researchers and they would encounter difficulties, challenges, and bottleneck or disappointment, loss, confusion, loneliness. Only keep passionate about the research, could they endure the struggle and win the final victory, truly starting the journey to doctoral research.

Assistant Professor Chen Bo reminded students of treating studying in a doctoral program as a research job, instead of studying as a student. Then, He warned each doctoral student should be responsible for his research work and make good use of the supervisor, instead of waiting for tasks assigned by the supervisor. Every doctoral student should try to be a specialist who understands his research area better than his supervisor. In the final, Assistant Professor Chen emphasized the importance of academic ethics and regulation and reminded students of meeting specific requirements of the thesis, which differed from journal papers and academic articles.
As the host of this activity, Assistant Professor Bi Jing Wei appreciated all the lecturers for their wonderful speeches and made the conclusion, hoping all the students would think more about what have discussed.
