On the morning of March 10, 2023, Mr. Yokel Yeung, the Director of Development for ACAMS Asia, and Ms. Liu Sichen, the Regional Development Manager, visited the Faculty of Law at the M.U.S.T.
They were accompanied by Mr. Andy Chan, the Vice Chairman of the Macau Anti-Money Laundering Specialists Association. The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Fang Quan, the Program Director, Mou Xiaobo, and the Assistant Professor, Peng Yunpeng, as well as the guest senior lecturer and founder of the Macau Anti-Money Laundering Professionals Association, Mr. Lao ChakKuong, attended the discussion.

The Faculty of Law partnered with ACAMS and the Macau Anti-Money Laundering Professionals Association in 2018 to establish the "International Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) Macau Exam Center" in our university, authorized by ACAMS, to promote local talent reserves in anti-money laundering and serve the region and Macau society.
During the discussion, Dean Fang Quan introduced the progress of the Faculty of Law's talent cultivation and research in the field of financial crime regulation and anti-money laundering in recent years to Director Yang Zhiquan and his team. With the support and promotion of various parties, the "Master of Financial Crime and Regulation" program was approved by the SAR government and began enrolling students in 2020. The first batch of students graduated on time in 2022, and many of the graduates are engaged in legal and financial-related work such as investment mergers and acquisitions, corporate compliance, and anti-money laundering in financial institutions and law firms. At the same time, the Faculty of Law's affiliated institution, the Macao Centre for Law and Finance, was officially established in 2020. The center is dedicated to building a high-level international research base and high-end think tank with Macau characteristics and a global vision, combining theory and practice, to serve the financial and legal system construction of Macau and the country.
While carrying out scientific research, the center also provides classroom teaching and extracurricular guidance for financial law-related subjects to meet the needs of the Faculty of Law's undergraduate and master's programs in financial crime and regulation, cultivating legal and financial talent.
Director Yokel Yeung also introduced the latest developments of ACAMS in the field of anti-financial crime in recent years.
This meeting strengthened the communication between the two sides, hoping to strengthen cooperation in the field of financial compliance and anti-money laundering in the future, actively participate in the construction of the Greater Bay Area, and jointly promote talent cultivation.
