The final and award ceremony of the 5th "Lianhua Cup" Legal Speech Competition was held on the evening of November 27, 2023, at the N212 Lecture Hall of the M.U.S.T.. The competition was organized by the Faculty of Law at the M.U.S.T., co-organized by the Student Union of the Faculty of Law at the M.U.S.T., and sponsored by the M.U.S.T. Foundation and the Macau Branch of Bank of China. Fang Quan, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the M.U.S.T., Wong Ka Weng, the Director of Student Affairs, and several students from the Faculty of Law were present at the event.

The guest judges for the final of the 5th "Lianhua Cup" Legal Speech Competition included Lao Chak Kuong, President of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Law at the Macau University of Science and Technology, Ao Chi Tan, lawyer at TANG CHI KEONG law firm, Lei Kai Cheong, Assistant Professor at the International College of the Macau University of Science and Technology, Cao Xiao, professor at the Faculty of Law, and Bi JingWei, Program Director.

This year's competition consisted of two stages: the preliminary round and the final round. A total of eight contestants successfully advanced to the final round after intense competition. In the first round, which focused on the theme "Law is the art of kindness and fairness," Xie Wenqian, Zhao Chenlu, and Fu Yuru stood out with their outstanding performances and successfully advanced to the championship battle. In the second round, each of the three finalists delivered a 3-minute impromptu speech on a randomly drawn topic. After careful deliberation and voting by the judges, Xie Wenqian was awarded the championship, Zhao Chenlu received the runner-up award, and Fu Yuru secured the third place. Yang Shiyi, Li Qingyou, Lu Yulu, Zeng Caiyi, and Liu Zhuocheng g received the Excellence Awards, while Liu Zhuocheng was voted by the audience as the recipient of the "Most Popular Speaker" award. The judges highly praised the performances of the contestants, showcasing the exceptional talent of the students from the Faculty of Law at Macau University of Science and Technology and reflecting the dedication and support of the faculty and students.

As a signature student activity of the Faculty of Law, the "Lianhua Cup" Legal Speech Competition provides students with a platform to express themselves and showcase their talents. Since its inception, the competition has achieved positive results in cultivating a culture of public speaking, enhancing students' public speaking skills, and enriching their extracurricular lives. The competition invites professional judges and legal experts from both inside and outside the university to provide professional comments and guidance to students, aiming to achieve a balanced approach to teaching theoretical knowledge and cultivating practical skills.
The fifth edition of the "Lianhua Cup" Legal Speech Competition and Awards Ceremony concluded successfully in a warm atmosphere, with all participants and guest judges taking commemorative photos, leaving behind wonderful memories of the event. Looking ahead, the Faculty of Law will continue to organize similar student activities to provide students with more opportunities to showcase themselves and develop their speech skills and leadership abilities. At the same time, the Faculty of Law will continue to collaborate with professionals from various fields to promote the development of legal education and provide support and guidance for students' growth and future career development.
