Macau again hosts a fascinating international medical event: the 13thSino-Luso International Medical Forum.

Titled “Dermatology and Wound Care Management,” the two-day forum takes place on 1st and 2nd of June, and is chaired by the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST): Faculty of Health Sciences and organized by the Macau Healthcare Management and Promotion Association (MHMPA).

The core purpose of this forum is to improve the outcomes of clinical skills training and medical education for our local Macau doctors and nurses. We will have ten keynote speakers and profession trainers contribute to scientific sessions as well as training workshops on the latest research and scientific information in the diagnosis, surgical, cosmetic treatment of skin and also wound care management.

“Our forum has continued to host high quality training and education events for Macau healthcare providers, this particular dermatology and wound care management meeting offering the latest in dermatologic education to physicians and nurses,” said Dr. Manson Fok, Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences, MUST.

Medical Director of University Hospital, MUST, Dr. Man stated “We are excited to have the top burns surgeon, Prof Yan Hong from The Third Military Medical University from Chongqing to present two scientific papers at this meeting here in Macau."

The other two finest nurse trainers from the Institute of Burn Research, PRC, namely, Li Xiaoqin and Liu Chunmei, will conduct a special workshop on 1st June. This will allow our participants to benefit from the latest techniques in wound care management and provide better care for our patients.

Overseas and local medical educators from Portugal and Macau will present the latest in groundbreaking medical sciences. Amongst them are Dr. Joao Peixoto, Dr. Gilberto Silva and Dr. Lai Yun Fee.

A leading Hong Kong skin expert, Dr. Raymond Ng, will present his paper on the Management of Necrotizing Fasciitis. The founder of a leading skin surgery centre based in Hong Kong, Dr. Hau Kwun Cheung will give us updates on Asian skin rejuvenation.

Participants will also hear presentations from prominent experts on a variety of current topics related to skin diseases and will engage in Q&A, roundtable discussions with the group on advocating high standards in clinical practice in dermatology and to patient care for a lifetime of healthier skin.

The workshop day will be held on the first day of the Sino-Luso International Medical Forum at the Center of Excellence for Medical Professional Development. This will be followed by the Roundtable Discussion event in the evening at the Lotus Room of Grand Lapa Hotel, on 1st June.

All scientific Sessions will be held at the Lecture Hall, Dr. Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation, 9/F, ICBC Building, Landmark, Macau on the 2nd June, starting at 9:30 a.m.

This event is supported by the new National Health and Family Planning Commission, PRC, The Chinese Medical Doctors Association as well as a list of outstanding healthcare organizations and Portuguese speaking associations in Macau.
