Sino-Luso International Medical Forum (Series Sixteen)

The 16th Sino-Luso International Medical Forum in Macau is taking place on October 5th and 6th. The topic for this event is "Clinical Toxicology." Comments Dr. Manson Fok, president of the Sino-Luso forum, “We are delighted to have taken the opportunity of hosting this Toxicology Forum in Macau for the first time. We are very much looking forward to our two full days exciting and stimulating programs.”

Dr. Fok adds, “A team of experts from Hong Kong will run quality workshops, our frontline medical providers will gain insights in a vast array of toxicological topics such as drugs and chemical residues, venomous bites from insects, contaminants in food items and some of the active ingredients of chemical products, etc.”

Academic programs are chaired by Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), this 16th forum is proud to present Dr. Chan Yiu Cheung, the President of Hong Kong Society of Clinical Toxicology. Dr. Chan remarks, “We are excited to come over to Macau with a team of specialists in the field, we understand food and drug safety issues are important and it is the current ‘hot’ topic. We must train our medical providers in this region to ensure that are all well-equipped and able to deal with emergency cases in order to meet today’s challenges.”

For Macau's frontline medical providers, this forum will instruct them in the growing field of toxicology, which is key in modern health matters. This forum will provide our local healthcare providers with the know-how in dealing with issues in all kinds symptoms, advanced treatments and detection of poisoning when chemicals and toxins come into contact with the human body.

Three of top scientific committee members of the Hong Kong Poison Information Centre will travel to Macau to conduct these high quality training workshops. Director of the centre and renowned lecturer in the field, Dr Lau Fei Lung, will lead his team to give highly informative lectures, with their hands-on laboratory experience and instruction in the practical application of the toxicological topics, risks management. The aim is to provide scientific advice on all matters with direct or indirect impact on food and drugs safety. Experts include senior specialists of the organization, Dr Tse Man Li and Dr Chan Chi Keung.

Local Macau medical educators will also present in this forum. They include, consultant of University Hospital, MUST, and, the Vice Executive Officer of Macau Society of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine.

The workshops will be held at the Lecture Hall, Dr Stanley Ho Medical Development Foundation, 9/F, ICBC Building, Landmark, Macau on Saturday and Sunday the 5th and 6th October starting at 8:30 a.m.

This event is supported by the new National Health and Family Planning Commission, PRC, The Chinese Medical Doctors Association as well as a list of outstanding healthcare organizations and Portuguese speaking associations in Macau.
