M.U.S.T Ranked 32nd on THE Asia University Rankings for the 1st Time

The 2020 Asia University Rankings was released by the Times Higher Education (THE) on June 3, 2020 local time. A total of 81 universities from China mainland and 8 from Hong Kong and Macao made the list. This year marks the first time that Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T) enlisted in this Ranking and ranked 32nd on the list and 13th among universities from China mainland, Hong Kong and Macao, making it the best university in the region of Macao.

Last year, M.U.S.T ranked top 300 in the World University Ranking by THE for the 1st time and made its new height to top 20 in the 2019 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) in Greater China. These are testimony to the achievements and progress made in our education quality and technology innovation in recent years under the support of the Macao and Central People’s governments.

The 2020 Asia University Rankings is a definitive list of research-intensive universities that includes 489 institutions across 30 countries/regions in Asia. It judges these universities by their core missions and uses the same range of 13 performance indicators in the World University Rankings. Adaptation in the weights are made to reflect patterns in Asian institutions. The indicators are teaching (the learning environment) 25%, research (volume, income and reputation) 30%, citation (research influence) 30%, international outlook (staff, students and research) 7.5%, industry income (knowledge transfer) 7.5%.
