For the sake of understanding the importance of tourist enterprises’ knowledge of public health and epidemic prevention in circumstances of adhering to regular prevention and control measures, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of Macau University of Science and Technology held the fourth lecture of the “2021 Summer Academic Week” in July 2021. Dean of the Center for Tourism Safety & Security Research of China Tourism Academy (CTSSR) of Huaqiao University, Professor Zheng Xiangmin was invited to give a lecture entitled "Tourism Destination Safety Management and Emergency Response" via Zoom meeting. Associate Professor Zhang Yang presided over the lecture, as well as FHTM teachers and graduate students attended the lecture. This lecture was sponsored by the Macau Foundation.
Professor Zheng Xiangmin Delivered a Speech
Professor Zheng Xiangmin is the director of the CTSSR and he is also an expert in China’s tourism safety management. Professor Zheng first listed some cases of safety accidents that occurred in tourist attractions and emphasized the importance of safety supervision. Professor Zheng analyzed the safety management and risk prevention of Hong Kong and Macao tourism and he thought that tourism enterprises should improve their ability to fight the epidemic. Tourism enterprises should popularize employees’ knowledge of public health and epidemic prevention. After the speech students asked Professor Zheng about the travel safety issues they encountered in their lives. Dr. Zheng also patiently answered the questions of the students and affirmed the students' learning ability.
