Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management of M.U.S.T. Signed MOU with Macau Hotel Association

In the vision of further expanding the partnership between higher education institutions and Macao’s hotel and tourism industry, the Macau Hotel Association held a MOU signing ceremony on September 24, 2022. The MOU specifically emphasizes cultivating more professional talents for the hospitality industry through internships, job training, and placements. Professor Ben K Goh, Dean of Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management represented M.U.S.T. and FHTM at the ceremony.

MOU Signing Ceremony

The ceremony was held on the main stage of the Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo. The ceremony was attended by Ms. Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Mr. Xu Zhiping, Deputy Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government, Mr. Carlos Roberto Xavier, Head of the Department of Tertiary Education of Education and Youth Development Bureau, Prof. Li Miao, Head of the Department of Integrated Resort and Tourism Management of Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Macau, Prof. Lei Ngan Lin, Vice-Rector of the Macao Polytechnic University, Prof. Fanny Vong, President of the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies, Prof. Jenny Lao-Phillips, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law of the University of Saint Joseph, Prof. Li Xi, Executive Associate Dean of the Faculty of International Tourism and Management of the City University of Macau, Ms. Wong Suk Yan, President of the Macau Hotel Association, and Mr. Luis Heredia, Director of the Macau Hotel Association.

Students Shared Internship Experience

Prof. Ben K. Goh, Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management pointed out that with the collaboration between industry and academia, there will be more talents cultivated for the hotel and tourism industry. Ms. Wong Suk Yan, President of the Macau Hotel Association stated that growing cooperative relationships between higher education institutions and the hotel and tourism industry would become an important milestone for the industry in Macao. The event also invited a student of the Master of Hotel Management, at Macau University of Science and Technology, Elvina Ho to share her internship experience. She stated that she was able to discover and increase her problem-solving aptitude in practice by learning skills of the hotel industry and increasing her knowledge of customer service, which provided great help for her professional future.
