M.U.S.T. Teams Won Top Prizes at the “Tourism Cup” National College Students Hainan Free Trade Port Tourism Product Innovation Competition

article0425145810On April 19th, 2023, the student representatives from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) of the Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T.) achieved excellent results in the “Tourism Investment Cup” National College Students Hainan Free Trade Port Tourism Product Innovation Competition, jointly organized by the Tourism Education Branch of the China Tourism Association, Hainan University, and Hainan Tourism Investment Development Co., Ltd.

Ultimately, under the guidance of Assistant Professor Liu Chao, all six teams of FHTM performed well and won awards in the competition, including the outstanding prize (Nan Jiao Hai Yun team - Li Shanshan, Chen Ruijun, Li Zilan, Zhu Xiaoting, and Luo Kaizhong), the second prize (Guan Dong team - Lu Tengyang, Tao Shuo, Liang Xinyi, Li Qianyue, and He Haochen; Wen Lu Zhou Li team - Zhou Shuying, Li Sirui, Lu Jiayao, and Wen Jiarui), the third prize (Hainan Zong Dong Yuan team - Tang Yang, Liang Keying, Kong Feifei, Yuan Jingyu, and Zhao Yiming), and Excellence Award (Xiang Chi Ye Zi Ji team - Zhao Yuexi, Geng Ruochen, Li Mengqi, and Li Linrui; Xiao Dao Meng Tu team - Lin Leyao, Zhang Xinyang, Wang Jing, and Cao Annan). The team that won the outstanding prize will continue to participate in the national finals.

A total of 566 teams from 242 universities across the country participated in the competition, divided into two categories: “Metaverse + Cultural Tourism Project Planning” and “Creative Visual Product Design”. The judges evaluated the entries based on creativity, practicality, and relevance to the theme. The competition aimed to cultivate innovative talents in the tourism industry and create tourism products with core appeal.

Through this competition, the students gained more knowledge and understanding of tourism product innovation and its related operations, applying the theoretical knowledge they learned in class to actual tourism planning. The FHTM will continue to encourage students to actively participate in various competition activities and strive to cultivate outstanding talent that combines theory with practice.
