M.U.S.T Students Won the National Grand Prize at the 2023 “ICBC Cup” FinTech Innovation Competition for National College Students

The 2023 “ICBC Cup” FinTech Innovation Competition for National College Students, organized by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), was held on December 9, 2023, at the International Exchange Building at the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Beijing. The representative team from Macao, consisting of Huang Haoze and Lyu Yuning from the School of Business (MSB), and Cui Kai from the Faculty of Innovation Engineering (FIE), both of the Macau University of Science and Technology (M.U.S.T), supervised by Associate Professor Lin Yongjia from MSB, showcased their project “‘Macau Shield NO.1’: Digital Credit Risk Management Platform for Macau SMEs”. Their outstanding performance in the finals was highly appreciated by the judges. As a result, it ranked second among the 13 participating teams and won the national grand prize, creating the best historical result for Macao students. Additionally, Hanfei Zhong from MSB, also supervised by Associate Professor Lin Yongjia, earned the national third prize with the project “Policy Financing Facilitation Solution”.

The FinTech Innovation Competition for Macau College Students successfully held its finals on November 28, 2023. The project from M.U.S.T. “‘Macau Shield NO.1’: Digital Credit Risk Management Platform for Macau SMEs” stood out, won the first prize in the Macao region, and was recommended by ICBC Macau for the national finals. 13 teams from various provinces and regions competed in the national finals. The project by the Macao representative team from M.U.S.T. showcased the application of the ResNet neural network model in inclusive credit services for Small and Medium Enterprises. By introducing advanced artificial intelligence technology, the project significantly enhanced the intelligence, automation, and accuracy of banks' inclusive financial lending. It represented a successful combination of financial technology and inclusive financing. As a result, the solution received unanimous approval from the expert judges on-site and was awarded the national grand prize with a score of 91,50.

The "ICBC Cup” FinTech Innovation Competition for National College Students has been successfully held for 14 years consecutively since 2010. This year's theme, "Digital ICBC Understands You Better - Innovation Leads the Future", provided a platform for college students to clash ideas, practice innovation, and showcase their talents. The competition is also included in the "2023 National College Students Competitions for Analytical Report" catalog published by the China Association of Higher Education.
