Postdoctoral fellow at the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences of Macau University of Science and Technology won the silver medal in the 2nd China Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

On October 28th, the final of the 2nd China Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition closed in Yantai, Shandong. The postdoctoral fellow Junjie Zhang, from the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences of the Macau University of Science and Technology, won the silver award in the New Energy and New Materials Group of the overseas competition, with the proposal: "High Quality Regenerated Aluminum Alloy Manufacturing Complete Technology Research and Development". The project was jointly guided and completed by Associate Professor André Antunes (Macau University of Science and Technology) and Professor Shengen Zhang (University of Science and Technology Beijing).

Junjie Zhang, a postdoctoral fellow, is engaged in research on materials science, including the recycling of high-quality aluminum alloys, hazardous solid waste disposal, and resource utilization both on Earth and applied to Space. In response to the challenges of waste aluminum, municipal solid waste incineration fly ash, and severe pollution of secondary aluminum ash, he has conducted research on the collaborative disposal and resource utilization of multi-source solid waste. His research career has been supported by the China Association for Science and Technology Youth Talent Promotion Project, the "Macau Youth Scholar Program", and by an Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow of University of Science and Technology Beijing. He has previously led 5 projects including the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund, Guangdong Buddhist Joint Youth Fund, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation General Project, and China Postdoctoral Science Foundation Overseas Exchange Project. He has published over 20 papers in journals of J. Clean Prod., Sci. Total Environment, Constr. Build Material, Ecotox. Environment Safe, and applied for 10 Chinese patents (5 authorized).

The China Postdoctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is the largest, highest level, and most extensive postdoctoral competition in China since the implementation of the postdoctoral system. This time, a total of 6202 postdoctoral projects and 25000 people signed up to participate. After preliminary selection, recommendation, national finals, and national finals, the competition generated a total of 55 gold awards, 109 silver awards, and 164 bronze awards.
