In 2023, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) achieved significant milestones with its permanent population exceeding 86 million and aggregate economic output surpassing 14 trillion-yuan, accounting for 1/9 of China's GDP. Recognized as one of the nation's most open and economically dynamic regions, the GBA holds strategic importance in China's development landscape. However, the region now confronts intensifying threats from climate change, including rising sea levels, worsening coastal flooding, and more frequent extreme weather events. The cities within the GBA urgently require coordinated strategies to enhance resilience and safeguard critical infrastructure, ecosystems, and communities. To address these challenges, MUST is hosting this forum. Distinguished experts and scholars from research institutions, government agencies, and enterprises across multiple disciplines have been invited to share insights. Through collaborative exchange of cross-sector expertise, the event aims to develop innovative solutions tailored to the unique needs of the Greater Bay Area.
