On July 17, 2020, Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) Retreat 2020 was held at The Seasons – MUST Training Restaurant on the university campus. The principal officers of the university and the staff of faculties/schools/institutes were ‘looking back and looking ahead’ in a relaxed atmosphere, engaged in active discussions on MUST’s past achievements and its future planning and development. Many participants spoke enthusiastically, creating a buoyant atmosphere in the session.

MUST President Liu Liang, Vice Presidents Tong Ka Lok, Jiang Zhihong, Pang Chuan, Lin Zhijun, Kwong Ying Wa, and Associate Vice President Sun Jianrong , joined by the deans and directors of the faculties/institutes and the departmental heads of the administrative units, attended this meeting.

MUST Retreat 2020 advises on the future development of the university

The event was chaired by Vice-President Tong Ka Lok. President Liu Liang gave a speech in which he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the deans and directors of the faculties/institutes and to the departmental heads of the administrative units for their contributions to and achievements in MUST’s growth in recent years, and hoped that all participants gave advice, expressed their views and drew on their collective wisdom for the future development of the university.

On behalf of the university, Vice-President Lin Zhijun introduced the strategic plan of MUST (2021-2025) and gave a detailed presentation on enhancing MUST's core competitiveness, faculty, international competitiveness and sustainable development, as well as the establishment of a smart campus; Vice-President Jiang Zhihong, Pang Chuan, Kwong Ying Wa and Associate Vice-President Sun Jianrong offered constructive suggestions on the future development of MUST during the session; other participants actively engaged in the discussion and exchange of ideas on future strategic planning, and also gave valuable opinions on the construction of faculties/schools/institutes and the development of academic disciplines.

Finally, Vice-President Tong Ka Lok concluded the meeting by thanking all the participants for the importance they attached to the brainstorming session and for their suggestions. He believed that the meeting was of great significance as it laid a foundation for determining the future scale of MUST, planning of its development blueprint, the improvement of its recognition, and the management mechanism for faculty members, which plays an important role in guiding the future strategic planning of the university.

The meeting was successfully ended in a pleasant atmosphere.
