Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Delegation Attended the 22nd Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (APacCHRIE) Conference and the 15th APacCHRIE Young Scholars' Forum

From May 24 to 26, 2024, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) delegation led by Dean Professor Prof. Ben K. Goh attended the 22nd Asia Pacific Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (APacCHRIE) Conference and the 15th APacCHRIE Young Scholars' Forum. Associate Professor Wong Weng Chou, Assistant Dean of FHTM, attended the deans and directors meeting and the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research (JHTR) editorial board meeting. The participation of FHTM’s faculty and student delegation not only injected new vitality into the conference but also further enhanced the University’s international academic reputation and influence.

The conference, held at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, had the theme "Big Leap Forward: Reshaping, Innovation, and Opportunity". APacCHRIE is one of the most influential tourism, hospitality, and food service management academic summits in the Asia-Pacific region, affiliated with the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education (I-CHRIE). The APacCHRIE conference attracts renowned scholars, industry experts, and government officials worldwide to engage in in-depth academic discussions on the frontiers of tourism research, making a profound impact on the international tourism academic community.

During the conference, FHTM’s faculty and students engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on various cutting-edge topics. Through keynote presentations, poster displays, and interactive sessions, they shared their latest research achievements and insights in areas such as tourism innovation, sustainable tourism, hotel management, and service quality improvement, showcasing FHTM's comprehensive research capabilities and broad influence in these fields.

Deans and Directors Meeting

The FHTM’s delegation outstanding performance at the conference was highly praised and recognized by the attendees. They also established good academic connections and cooperative relationships with scholars from other countries and regions. This participation in the APacCHRIE conference not only provided a platform for faculty and students to showcase their talents and exchange ideas, but also established a positive image of the University in the international tourism, hospitality, and food service management academic community, laying a solid foundation for future academic development.
