MUST Launches a New PhD Program in Environmental Science and Engineering

The Macau University of Science and Technology officially received approval from the Macao SAR Government on July 1, 2024, to offer a New PhD Program Doctor of Philosophy in Environmental Science and Engineering. The program is scheduled to commence in the fall of the 2024/2025 academic year, and the online applications(hyperlink to: https://must.mo/dese-enus)are available until July 31, 2024 (GMT+8).

As environmental protection issues are becoming increasingly critical, society is paying more attention to environmental problems. To meet the dual carbon targets of "2030 Carbon Dioxide Peaking, 2060 Carbon Neutrality" and the demands of China's development of an ecological civilization, the discipline of environmental science and engineering is receiving more attention, which is dedicated to researching and solving environmental problems. The latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics indicates a rapid growth in the number of enterprises and job demands related to environmental protection in recent years, with a continuous increase in demand for environmental professionals. To meet the demands of society, universities have fully leveraged their advantages to offer doctoral programs in Environmental Science and Engineering, which was able to cultivate comprehensive talents with multidisciplinary backgrounds, international perspectives, and environmental ethical consciousness in both Environmental Science and Engineering fields, this program will further increase the scientific research capabilities and international academic exchanges for postgraduate students at MUST  

The Department of Environmental Science and Engineering has relied on the National Observation and Research Station of Costal Ecological Environments in Macau (Unique in Macau), Key Laboratory of River Basin Digital Twinning of Ministry of Water Resources, and two joint laboratories in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Environmental Quality Collaborative Innovation Joint Laboratory, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Pollutant Exposure and Health Joint Laboratory), with abundant teaching and research resources, robust strength, sufficient to meet the training needs of talented students.
