Seminar on “Opportunities for Global Cultural Tourism Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence” by Mr. Teng Tong, Vice-President of Fliggy

To celebrate M.U.S.T.’s 25th Anniversary, the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) held the second lecture of the “Seminars by Masters from the Tourism Industry” series on March 21st, 2025, at D Hall. Mr. Teng Tong, Vice-President of Fliggy, was invited as the guest speaker and delivered an inspiring lecture entitled “Opportunities for Global Cultural Tourism Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”. Prof. Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM, Assistant Dean Dr. Wong Weng Chou, Program Directors Dr. Feng Yan and Pan Su Ying, and more than 400 teachers and students attended the seminar.

Prof. Ben K. Goh delivered an opening speech, appreciating Mr. Teng Tong’s efforts in public affairs and the travel industry, as well as his remarkable achievements. Mr. Teng Tong demonstrated himself as a role model of a successful entrepreneur for the students.

During his speech, Mr. Teng Tong first explained the origin of Fliggy Travel and introduced how Fliggy Travel builds its operation system by developing a membership system to integrate the upstream and downstream supply of the tourism industry. He also discussed the shift in the tourism industry focus from “traveller” to “consumer” and shared how Fliggy Travel addresses the challenges of Internet promotion through marketing. At the end of his speech, Mr. Teng Tong proposed solutions to the problem of specialized corpus contamination through massive cross-referencing, addressing major AI industry challenges in the travel and tourism sector. The audience was highly inspired by Mr. Teng Tong’s speech.

During the Q&A session, students raised many questions about AI and cultural tourism development. Mr. Teng Tong kindly answered all the questions, sharing his personal experiences and providing insightful perspectives on the future development in this field.

Mr. Teng Tong is the Vice-President of Fliggy Travel. He has extensive experience in public affairs and government-business collaboration. He was a founding member of the Strategic Development Department at Alibaba Group. Now at Fliggy Travel, he oversees travel public affairs and government-business collaboration efforts.
