The 2025 MUST Faculty of Innovation Engineering and Space Science Institute Graduation Ceremony Successfully Held

The 2025 Faculty Graduation Ceremony jointly organized by Faculty of Innovation Engineering (FIE) and the Space Science Institute (SSI) of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), was successfully held on June 9, 2025 at N101. Nearly 400 faculty members, graduates and relatives attended the ceremony, including the Vice Chancellor, President of MUST and Dean of FIE, Chair Prof. Joseph Hun-wei LEE; Vice President of MUST, Chair Prof. Tam Kwong Hang; Founder and President of Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligence Technology Company Limited, Dr. Zhang Yunfei; Director of School of Computer Science and Engineering, Chair Prof. Zhang Du; Director of SSI, Chair Prof. Zong Qiugang; Assistant Dean of FIE, Prof. Li Zhiwu; Assistant Dean of FIE, Program Director of School of Computer Science and Engineering, Professor Li Xiaodong; Department Head of Engineering Science, Chair Prof. Wu Naiqi; Department Head of Environmental Science and Engineering, Prof. Ma Yi Bing.

Vice Chancellor, President of MUST and Dean of FIE, Chair Prof. Joseph Hun-wei LEE delivered a speech at the graduation ceremony, congratulating the graduates on completing their four-year academic journey and expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the guests and teachers. He expressed that we are entering an exciting new age of accelerated computing where AI-super-computers can assist with drug discovery in entirely new ways, and making digital twins of complex systems with full fidelity possible. However, machines do not mean they are smarter. In this cyber age of generative AI, human ingenuity is needed more than ever. He encouraged graduates to carry forward MUST core values of “Innovation” and “Quality” to continue to learn and explore, bravely unleash their imagination, challenge themselves, and contribute to the ever-innovating engineering field.

After presenting the degree certificates, Dr. Zhang Yunfei, Founder and President of Zhuhai Yunzhou Intelligence Technology Company Limited, was invited to delivered a speech to all the graduates and congratulated them on their successful completion of their studies and embarking on a new chapter in life. He shared his reflections on pursuing dreams: entrepreneurship should begin with passion, be elevated by responsibility, and be grounded in perseverance. He encouraged graduates to hold fast to their original aspirations, contribute to the Chinese dream with a spirit of endeavor, and use their youth to write magnificent chapters of our times.

 Associate Professor Yang Lei, Academic Representative of the FIE, was invited to deliver a speech after. She emphasized that graduates shoulder the important task of "super innovation" in this era and need to integrate interdisciplinary and human-machine collaborative knowledge. She encouraged students to uphold the school motto of "Sincerity and Integrity", forge ahead with determination, carve the shining coordinates of "Innovative Engineers" in the vast world, and let their lives shine.

Ms. Zhu Lian, representative of FIE graduates, expressed gratitude to the university and the teachers, family, and friends for their support in her speech. She reflected on the four transformative years at the university from a nervous freshman to a confident graduate, and encouraged her fellow graduates to carry forward the university's wisdom and courage, pursue passions, act responsibly, and bravely navigate future challenges.

At the end of the graduation ceremony, Chair Prof. Joseph Hun Wei Lee, Vice Chancellor, President of MUST and Dean of FIE, declared the end of the ceremony and wished all graduates great success and a bright future.
