MUST students Won First and Second Prizes in “English Tour Guide” Category at the 12th Cross-Strait, Hong Kong, and Macao College Student Vocational Skills Competition

The 12th Cross-Strait, Hong Kong, and Macao College Student Vocational Skills Competition recently concluded successfully. In this competition, students from the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) delivered outstanding performances, winning first and second prizes respectively.

In the “English Tour Guide” category for the Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao division, contestants from numerous well-known universities across the three regions engaged in fierce competition. Participating institutions from Macao included, among others, Macau University of Science and Technology, Macao Polytechnic University, Macao University of Tourism, and City University of Macau. The competition aims to comprehensively evaluate the professional skills and overall competencies of participants as English tour guides, encompassing English language proficiency, tour commentary techniques, contingency handling abilities, and cross-cultural communication skills. It is dedicated to cultivating high-quality English-speaking talents that meet market demands. Simultaneously, the event provides a platform for exchange and mutual learning among university students from the three regions, not only enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation but also broadening students’ international perspectives and strengthening their cross-cultural awareness and capabilities.
