From April 9 to 12, 2026, the 4^th Cross-Strait Hospital Pharmacy Conference and the 8^th Academic Annual Meeting of the Hospital Pharmacy Specialist Committee of the Cross-Strait Medical and Health Exchange Association (CHAM) were held grandly in Changsha. Under the theme Hand in Hand for Collaborative Development, the conference gathered top experts and scholars from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao to discuss new pathways for the high-quality development of hospital pharmacy.

During the event, the Macao Chinese Society of Humanities Pharmacy was officially inaugurated. The ceremony was witnessed by a group of authoritative experts from across the four regions, including: Academician Zhu Yi Zhun: Vice President of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Director of School of Pharmacy; Academician Oliver Yoa-Pu Hu: Honorary Chairman of the Hospital Pharmacy Specialist Committee (CHAM) and Chair Professor at Taipei Medical University; Professor Zhang Lingli: Chairperson of the Hospital Pharmacy Specialist Committee (CHAM) and Vice President of West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University; Professor Zhu Zhu: Honorary Chairperson of the Hospital Pharmacy Specialist Committee of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association and Professor at Peking Union Medical College Hospital; Professor Lyu Qianzhou: Chief Pharmacist of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of the Shanghai Pharmaceutical Association; Researcher Chiu Yuet: President of the Hong Kong Society for the History of Pharmacy and Researcher at the International Drug Policy Research Center, Shanghai University; Professor Li Huande: President of the Hunan Pharmaceutical Association and Professor at the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University; Professor Wu Xin’an: Vice Chairman of the Hospital Pharmacy Specialist Committee (CHAM) and former Vice President of the First Hospital of Lanzhou University; Professor Xia Lunzhu: Vice President of the Anhui Pharmaceutical Association and former Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui University of Chinese Medicine.

The Macao Chinese Society of Humanities Pharmacy was founded under the leadership of Academician Zhu Yi Zhun, with Assistant Professor Liang Qiuyu from the Faculty of Chinese Medicine serving as Secretary-General.

The society centers its mission on humanities pharmacy, focusing on: ethical care in pharmaceutical practice; patient medication experience and the humanistic dimensions of pharmacy administration; interdisciplinary research merging pharmacy with ethics, law, psychology, and culture; transformation toward a patient-centered pharmaceutical service model. Moving forward, the society will prioritize academic seminars on humanistic themes, ethical training for pharmacists, and public welfare projects for patient education. This initiative aims to fill the gap in Macao’s existing professional organizations regarding pharmaceutical humanistic care and ethics, building a multi-dimensional service network to supplement Macao’s healthcare social service system. The establishment of the Macao Chinese Society of Humanities Pharmacy marks a significant milestone in the collaborative development of the pharmaceutical community across the four regions. It serves as a new starting point for Macao's pharmaceutical industry to integrate humanistic values and expand its international influence.

As a benchmark for pharmaceutical higher education in the region, Macau University of Science and Technology remains committed to its mission of serving Macao, integrating into the Nation, and facing the world. By leading the establishment of this society, MUST further realizes its vision of driving Macao’s medical development. In the future, the university will continue to utilize this platform to deepen research, talent cultivation, and international cooperation in humanities pharmacy, bolstering the high-quality growth of Macao's pharmaceutical sector.
