“Steadfast as a Rock, Voyaging to the Stars and Seas: A New Chapter Begins”: The 2026 FHTM Graduation Ceremony Concludes with Grandeur

The Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM) at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) was held on the morning of June 5. With over 600 industry guests, faculty members, parents, and friends in attendance, nearly 400 graduates from doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s degree programs gathered to celebrate their academic achievements.

The ceremony was officiated by Dr. Kwong Ying Wa, Vice-President of MUST, and Professor Ben K. Goh, Dean of FHTM. Dr. Kwong took a group photo with the Doctor of Philosophy in Tourism Management graduates, while Dean Goh presented degree certificates to graduates of the Master of International Tourism Management, Master of Hotel Management, Bachelor of International Tourism Management, and Bachelor of Hotel Management. Distinguished guests included members of the Faculty Advisory Board: Ms. Stephanie So (Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Wynn Macao), Ms. Peck Yoke Chan (Vice President of Human Resources, MELCO Resorts), Ms. Sophia Mok (Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Lisboeta Macao), Mr. Lourence Ho (Vice President of Human Resources Training & Development, Sands China), Mr. Patrick Wong (Chairman of the FHTM Alumni Association), Mr. Alfred Ng (Director of Macao Services Division, Shun Tak–Turbojet), Mr. Lawrence Chen (Head of Human Resources, Macao & Hong Kong, Hefu Noodles), Ms. Celia Lao (Senior Vice President of North Asia, NEXUS DMC), Ms. Betty Fung (Owner, Triple Taste Limited), Ms. Sophie Lei (Owner, SD Magazine), and Mr. Vincent Ieong (Chairman, Macao Food & Beverage Industry Development Association), along with parents, relatives, friends, and faculty members.

Dean Ben K. Goh Presents Degree Certificates

In his address, Dean Ben K. Goh extended warm congratulations to all graduates. He encouraged graduates to “love the country and Macao” and to actively participate in the development of the Greater Bay Area and the Hengqin Cooperation Zone. He shared four heartfelt expectations: stay true to yourselves, embrace challenges with courage, never stop learning, and always remember that the FHTM community stands firmly behind you. “Your growth will fuel the progress of those around you and our city,” he emphasized. “Go forth and lead the future of cultural tourism with innovation.”

Representing the graduating class, Zhang Yuetian (PhD in Tourism Management) and Feng Haoxuan (Bachelor of Hotel Management) delivered a bilingual address, reflecting on their transformative journey at MUST. Zhang summarized his doctoral experience through three virtues: “staying true to my original aspiration, broadening my global vision, and daring to take responsibility.” He encouraged his peers: “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you appear, and smarter than you think.” Feng expressed gratitude to the Faculty for offering diverse platforms from team competitions and MICE volunteering to international internships that bridged theory and practice. “MUST has been a solid ladder for our growth, equipping us with professional competence and a global vision,” he said.

The ceremony also featured the presentation of Honor Cords to outstanding bachelor’s degree recipients. Feng Haoxuan (Bachelor of Hotel Management) received both a First-Class Honor Cord and the President’s Gold Medal Award, while Shen Beiyi (Bachelor of International Tourism Management) was honored with a Second-Class Honor Cord and the President’s Silver Medal Award, highlighting the Faculty’s excellence in nurturing future leaders.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, all graduates rose to sing the university anthem and gathered for a group photo, creating a warm and memorable scene. Dean Ben K. Goh officially declared the ceremony closed, wishing graduates boundless success as they “connect Macao with the Greater Bay Area and serve the global wave of cultural tourism with a bright future ahead.”
