On July 22, 2026, a delegation from Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) visited Liupanshui Normal University and successfully signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This visit was part of the “Serving the People” activity of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), implementing relevant arrangements under the CPPCC National Committee’s 2026 work plan for members to perform their duties through the “Serving the People” initiative.

The MUST exchange team was led by Chen Jimin, a member of the CPPCC National Committee, Vice-Chairman and Secretary-General of the University Council of MUST. Wong Weng Chou, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management (FHTM), and Feng Yan, Program Director of FHTM, attended the signing ceremony as representatives. PhD students Du Jingye and Su Xiaping accompanied the delegation and participated in the exchange symposium. Li Li, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairperson of the Liupanshui Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, and Chen Yingwu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Liupanshui Normal University, led a group of multi-disciplinary faculty representatives from the university to take part in the talks and the signing ceremony. The two universities reached a consensus on cooperation.

During the symposium, the two sides engaged in discussions on multi-level disciplinary collaboration. In addition to cooperation in the field of culture and tourism, they agreed to leverage the State Key Laboratory of Lunar and Planetary Sciences at MUST to jointly promote projects in astronomical observation, planetary science, and deep-space science popularization education. This aims to facilitate resource sharing across the humanities, sciences, and medicine, and to create a new model of interdisciplinary collaborative education.

FHTM at MUST has long been actively expanding its cooperation network with mainland universities. The establishment of this partnership represents a significant step for the Faculty to deepen education in culture and tourism in Southwest China and to broaden its students’ practice platforms on the mainland. Moving forward, the Faculty will promote the implementation of faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and other collaboration initiatives, build a bridge for cultural and tourism exchanges between Macao and the mainland, cultivate outstanding professionals in culture and tourism, and contribute to Macao’s moderate economic diversification as well as the integrated innovation of the cultural and tourism industries on the mainland.
